🐮 Moo-ch Love: Dimensional Scene Card Using Foam Tape Layers

  • Aug 3
  • 2 min read

Today I’m sharing a sweet and punny card that’s packed with charm, thanks to foam tape, layered die cuts, and scene-building details. This cozy picnic scene features a lovable cow enjoying a sunny day with a basket of goodies and a tall glass of moo-licious milk! šŸ„›šŸ§ŗ

If you’re looking for a fun way to create layered interest on your cards, this is a great project to try. Let’s break it down!

āœ‚ļø Supplies Used:

  • Chillin' With the Herd Stamp & Die Set (cow, milk glass, picnic basket, sentiment)

  • (additional supplies listed below)

šŸ–Œļø Step-by-Step: Building the Scene

1ļøāƒ£ Stamp, Color & Die Cut the Focal Images

I started by stamping the cow, picnic basket, and glass of milk from the ā€œChillin' With the Herdā€ stamp set. I colored everything with COPIC markers and used my Brother Scan n' Cut to cut them out. I love how the details of the picnic—like the loaf of bread and apple—really pop!

2ļøāƒ£ Ink Blend the Background

Using blending brushes and a soft sky blue ink, I gently blended a background onto a 4.25" x 3" panel. I kept it simple to let the foreground shine. I also stenciled some grass to add texture.

3ļøāƒ£ Die Cut the Grass

Next, I die cut a grass border from green cardstock and layered it on top of the ink-blended panel. Both the grass and background were cut with a stitched rectangle die for a clean and cohesive look.

4ļøāƒ£ Layer with Foam Tape for Dimension

I used foam tape to pop up the cow, picnic basket, and sentiment for depth and playful dimension. Layering these elements adds life to the scene and makes the card feel dynamic.

5ļøāƒ£ Assemble the Card Base

The layers came together like this:

  • A black A2-sized card base

  • A red mat with rounded corners (top left and bottom right)

  • A black-and-white gingham layer for that classic picnic vibe (also with rounded corners on top life and bottom right)

  • A black stitched banner for extra detail and grounding

  • The stitched rectangle scene panel on top

Each layer was adhered following a card sketch from my stash of card sketches—it really helped guide the layout and balance of the design.

šŸ’” Final Touches

To finish, I added the die cut sentiment ā€œMoo-ch Loveā€ with foam tape for one more pop of dimension. This playful card is perfect for sending love, encouragement, or a simple smile to a friend!
