Today’s card combines soft ink blending, watercolor shimmer, and a scrapbook-inspired layout to create a design that feels both playful and deeply meaningful. By layering stenciled panels inside Polaroid-style frames and finishing the card with a bold sentiment, this project tells a love story in a creative, hands-on way.

Creating the Stenciled Backgrounds
I started by taping down a piece of 6×6 Alabaster cardstock to my work surface to keep everything secure while blending. Using the Signs of Love Stencil Set from Brutus Monroe, I taped down the first stencil and ink blended Distress Oxide Ink in Antique Linen over the design.
Once the first layer was complete, I removed that stencil, lined up the second stencil from the same set, and ink blended Distress Oxide Ink in Gathered Twigs on top. I intentionally chose these two neutral shades to represent my husband and myself, adding a personal layer of meaning to the design right from the start.
After the ink blending was finished, I trimmed the panel down into 3×3 squares to create individual mini scenes.
Adding Watercolor Details
To soften the backgrounds and add visual interest, I added watercolor details around the hands using Brutus Monroe aqua pigment mixed with red, white, and pearl. Mixing these pigments together created a shimmery pink tone that adds warmth and movement without overpowering the ink blending underneath. This step really helps the hands stand out while keeping the overall look soft and cohesive.
Polaroid Frames
Next, I used my Cricut to cut Polaroid-style frames from Alabaster cardstock. Each frame was adhered over a stenciled panel, and I trimmed away any excess cardstock around the edges so everything lined up cleanly. The Polaroid frames instantly give this card a scrapbook or memory-keeping feel.
Card Assembly
For the card base, I trimmed a brown heart patterned paper to 4″ × 5.25″ from the Gentle Love paper pad, allowing room for a pink mat around the edges. I used Bubble Gum cardstock from Brutus Monroe for the mat, which perfectly complements the watercolor details and adds a bright, cheerful finish.
The patterned paper was adhered to the Bubble Gum cardstock, then mounted onto an A2 card base.
I stamped the sentiment “I seriously love you” from the Extra Sentimental stamp set onto a rectangle piece of Alabaster cardstock.
To finish the card, I adhered the Polaroid panels onto the card front in a loose, scrapbook-style arrangement, slightly overlapping and tilting them for interest. The sentiment was added to the lower right-hand corner to ground the design and complete the layout.

Final Thoughts
This card is a great example of how simple techniques can come together to tell a meaningful story. The neutral ink blending keeps the design soft and timeless, while the watercolor shimmer and layered Polaroids add personality and depth. Finished with a bold sentiment from the Extra Sentimental stamp set, this layout is perfect for anniversaries, Valentine’s Day, or just-because love cards.
