Project Overview
The foundation of this card starts with a beautiful scripted background that adds instant interest without overwhelming the design. By distressing the edges and adding ink splatter, the background takes on a lived-in, mixed-media feel that sets the tone for the rest of the card.
The focal point is a floral heart, which brings softness and movement to the design. Paired with bold black die-cut hearts and a cheerful pink background, this card strikes a balance between grunge and romance.
How This Card Came Together
I began by stamping the Scripted background stamp from Brutus Monroe onto white cardstock. Black ink splatters were added for contrast, and the edges were torn to create a distressed, layered look.
Next, the floral image from Shaped Flowers was stamped and die cut into a heart shape. Distress Inks were used with an ink-smooshing technique to color the flowers, giving them a soft, organic, watercolor-style finish.
To ground the design, several small hearts were die cut from black cardstock and layered around the focal point. Everything was adhered to a Pink Lemonade cardstock background, and the card was finished with the “Sending Love” sentiment from Shaped Flowers.

Why This Design Works
The distressed script background adds texture without overpowering the focal point
The floral heart softens the bold black elements
Pink Lemonade cardstock brings warmth and a cheerful pop of color
Simple sentiments keep the design versatile for many occasions
This card is a great example of how Brutus Monroe stamps can work together seamlessly to create a project that feels expressive, layered, and full of heart.
