Mojo Monday 451 Contest | Congrats Distress Ink Blending Card
Ah, it's contest week at Mojo Monday again :) I'm still trying hard to keep up with this schedule of blog posts that I set for myself, but sometimes I get home from work and I'm just so tired... of literally, doing nothing all day. The fact that it's contest week just gave me that extra push... and not only did I make one card, but I made TWO using the Mojo Monday 451 Contest Sketch. So I can submit both cards, my second card will follow in the next post :)
For this card, I decided that I would try some ink blending with some distress inks I bought a while ago but haven't had the chance to get into them to create something. I was feeling for a pink and green combo... reminds me of the 50s. It's one of my favorite color combinations. My husband says I should have joined AKA (Alpha Kappa Alpha) as these are their colors! lol.
I used Cracked Pistachio and Spun Sugar mini distress inks. I began from one corner of a 5.5x4.25 pieces of Ranger Watercolor paper with blending Cracked Pistachio onto the paper. Once I got towards the middle, I came from the opposite corner blending Spun Sugar towards the Cracked Pistachio. I was careful when the two colors met in the middle as it would make a brownish color, so I didn't blend the two colors together too much. To finish off the background, I sprayed some water and picked it up with a paper towel, and then I sprayed both Frost and Sparkle shimmer sprays to give the background some glimmer and sheen :)
I cut the watercolor paper down to 4.5x3.25 and cut some white cardstock to give it a nice matte. I then pulled Mint Macaron and Pink Pirouette Stampin' Up! papers to match the distress inks. I die cut the circle using Lawn Fawn's Stitched Circle dies, and the white banner from Lawn Fawn's Sentiment Banners dies to die cut the banner for the sentiment.
My sentiment was really the after-thought for this card process as I knew the layout I was going for and the colors I wanted to use. I had the Lawn Fawn "So Much to Say" stamp set sitting out on my desk, so I decided to use the "congrats" sentiment with the toasting wine glasses to make it a wedding/engagement type card. I felt the two colors coming together as "one" is like a marriage/engagement so it make sense to me :) Plus, I really don't have a lot of these type of cards. I stamped the sentiment with SU Mint Macaron ink using my Misti and stamped it twice to get a nice solid image.
Lastly, I finished off the card with some 4mm and 6mm PPP sparkling clear sequins and clear Wink of Stella on the sentiment. The pictures really don't do the card justice but I like it anyway :)
Thanks for stopping by! Happy crafting :)
