Card Overview

I wanted this card to feel playful and bright—perfect for sending smiles during the holiday season. The hippo takes center stage, nestled in a cheerful yellow gift box and topped with a shiny red bow, while festive presents surround him. A fun sentiment banner ties everything together with a touch of whimsy.

How I Made It

Background:

I used an embossed dotted panel, softly ink-blended in red to create a glowing spotlight effect behind the hippo. A few black splatters add extra texture and movement.

Images:

All images were stamped on white cardstock, colored with Copic markers, and die-cut with my Brother Scan 'N Cut. I added subtle highlights with a white gel pen to make the gifts and bow pop.

Hippo & Presents:

The hippo peeking out of the box steals the show, while the bold red-and-green wrapped presents balance out the scene.

Sentiment:

I stamped ā€œHave a Very Hippo Holidaysā€ on a stitched banner die-cut and adhered it onto the top left corner.

Finishing Touches:

The panel was layered over a festive holly-patterned border to frame the design.
