Thanks Card featuring Concord & 9th's Fill-in Phrases Collection

Concord & 9th - not a company I typically shop from (just not my style), but when I saw all my favorite card designers creating such beautiful cards from the Fill-in Phrases Bundle, I just had to get it. It's something I haven't seen offered from a stamp company before as it includes a paper pad, stamp set, and stencils that all coordinate and work together. My suggestion would be if you plan to get one item from the bundle, get it all.

The first day the kit arrived, I had to get into it that night and try it out. I tried creating a few techniques of my own that didn't quite work out, but then I decided to use it the original way it was intended.

I started first by selecting a patterned paper from the paper pad. There were blank spaces where the flowers from the stencil would go. I used Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar to create my flowers. I took the paper and taped it down to my mixed media board. I then placed the first stencil (the outline of the flower) over top the paper and lined it up so the flowers would "fill-in" the blank spaces on the paper. I taped this down as well. I first used the spun sugar (the lighter color) and began pressing the ink into the stencil using a distress tool until it had enough color to my liking. I then removed that stencil and replaced it with the detail stencil and used picked raspberry to press in the ink into the stencil creating a layer on top of the first images. Once I removed my stencils, I had my completed patterned paper, which I then cut down to 4"x5.25".

Next, I went through my solid cardstock papers to find matching colors to the inks. I ended up selecting some pink Recollections paper from Michaels and used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle die to die-cut a 4.25"x5.5" stitched rectangle for the matte on my card.

I wanted this card to be a bit elegant, so I pulled some vellum and cut that down to 3.5"x4.75" (I believe). I decided to use the Lawn Fawn Scripty Thanks die for my sentiment. I created two layers using each pink color cardstock I pulled using the darker pink as a shadow to the lighter pink. I also pulled another stamp set and used the sentiment "for your kindness" and stamped that onto my vellum with VersaFine Onyx Black ink and Clear SSS Embossing Powder for a shiny look.

To attach the vellum piece with the "thanks" sentiment to my card, I used some 4mm and 6mm Pretty Pink Posh clear droplets as an embellishment and applied liquid glue to the back of the vellum where these and the "thanks" sentiment were located so the glue would not be visible. I then finished off the card with some pink twine from my stash and tied a bow towards the bottom of the card. I used some clear wink of stella over the "thanks" die and that finished it off.

As for the matching stamp set, I didn't have any use for it for this card, but it has a lot of great bold sentiments that can be used as the focal point of the card. Since most examples I had seen shown online used these sentiments, I had decided to try something different :)
