Lawn Fawn Summer 2016 Release | "Yay, Kites!" "Dad + Me" & "Big Scripty

There were so many great things about Lawn Fawn's Summer 2016 release! I wanted everything, but I restrained myself from buying it all :) I decided to pick 3 stamp sets, and their matching dies, as well as an individual die. I made my purchase from scrapbookpal.com, and I can't say enough good things about them! Their prices are amazing, they offer free shipping with a $25 order, and shipping is FAST! I placed my order at 5am on release day (Tuesday) and received my package EARLY on Saturday rather than the scheduled Monday! I was definitely pretty stoked when I went to work on Saturday to find out this package was out for delivery to my home :)

I'm trying something different when I get my stamps to ensure that I actually use them after buying them and don't just repackage and file them away. Just as Kelly does in her videos, I open the stamps and stamped each stamp out on paper, then I colored, and die cut them out. I now have them in a little basket waiting to be used and turned into cards. I'm also trying a new technique for stamping as I haven't been too impressed with my StazOn black ink pads, so now I'm using Versafine black, and then clear heat embossing the images so they dry quickly and can be colored. This worked out pretty well, and it gave them a nice finish.

For my first card, I wanted to make it silly and have both the baby and daddy bear wearing glasses. One finishing touch I used to make them look realistic was to add acetate to the backs of the glasses so they look like glass! That's always the fun part of making scene cards is seeing what all you can do to make it look more realistic. Below is the card I came up with, and it can really be used for multiple holidays such as a birthday, Father's Day, or just a thinking of you card.

For my second card, I wanted to use the dad and baby moose, as well as a scripty word. The kite ended up just being a finishing touch :) I thought it would make a little more sense to have the words "love ya" being held by both moose, which was just an extension of the kite they were flying together :)

For both of these cards, there were a lot of scene dies I pulled that I hadn't used yet, so it was nice to finally use them.

Here's a process video showing how I created the second card :)

Thanks for stopping by; happy crafting!
