MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge 278 | SSS July 2016 Card Kit Sending Comforting Hugs

When I get a SSS card kit, as long as it stays on my craft desk, I will continue to make cards from it. I try to do this so that I use up a good amount of the supplies before storing it away for future use when I'm lacking creative inspiration!

For this card, I decided to use the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge 278 to come up with the layout for my card. I picked out the pretty blue flower paper, decided I wanted to do a vellum overlay, and also incorporated that SU Night of Navy blue CS that matches the kit so well. Once I put the center piece of the sketch together with the banner and circle die cut, I chose another sheet of patterned paper from the kit that was yellow with flowers since blue and yellow are complimentary colors. To keep the theme of the yellow, blue, and white, I stamped the sentiment "Sending Comforting Hugs" in Night of Navy SU ink, and then stamped the flowers next to the sentiment with Daffodil Delight SU ink.

As much as I don't like making sympathy cards, it's a good idea to have them on hand as they're typically needed at the spur of the moment, which is why I chose this sentiment from the stamp set. I also felt the color theme of the card and the flowers on the patterned papers were nice and subtle, which is great for sympathy cards.

I pulled out some Lawn Fawn twine to finish off the card with a bow. I didn't feel like I've been using twine on my cards much lately, so I thought it would be nice to do something with the twine as I had some with a great yellow color to match the card. I also pulled out some pearls to finish off the centers of the flower, continuing with that delicate look. I decided NOT to add sequins this time (surprising, right?) because I did want to keep it elegant and really clean and simple. I still have plenty of supplies left from the kit to make more cards, so stayed tuned for that!

I am also entering this card into Simon Says Anything Goes :)

Thanks for stopping by! Happy crafting :)
