Mojo Monday 449 & Simon Says Anything Goes | SSS Look for the Miracles
Does anyone else just love getting their monthly card kit in the mail? I swear, it feels like Christmas every time it arrives! Unfortunately, due to a busy life, it often sits on my craft desk unattended for at least a week or so until I finally have some time to sit down and create something with it. Well, with it being a 3-day weekend for me, I've had the time to catch up on all my video editing, participate in card challenges, and make a card using my SSS card kit, and HOPEFULLY time to edit the process video for this card. I don't, however, want to spend my ENTIRE weekend inside, on the computer.
There are a lot of fun things going on with SSS June 2016 Card Kit, but what really caught my attention was the stamp set included with the big scripty sentiment "look for the miracles." I also liked how the doodled flowers looked a lot like the ones in the included pattered papers. This kit had somewhat of a mixed media theme with all the papers looking as if they were layered and painted. It's a really fun look, and I can't wait to use the rest of the papers, especially the bright rainbow colored one!
To begin my card, I pulled up some card challenges, such as Mojo Monday 449 to get an idea for a card sketch to use, and Simon Says Anything Goes, so no matter what, the card I made would fit into that challenge.
The sketch played a big part in designing this card, as once I realized the sentiment included in the SSS kit that I wanted to use would fit perfectly in the box on the left side, I knew this sketch would be perfect, and I just needed to use the rest of the supplies in the kit to put the rest of the sketch together. For the circle, I replaced that with a flower stamp from the included stamp set. I heat embossed it clear and did some watercoloring with the Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers, then I fussy cut it out. I also pulled some pink ribbon to match some of the pink splats on the patterned paper I chose, although the piece I cut doesn't really show this color, but I still felt it fit well.
The card is very simple, but I loved the mixed media look of it, and that sentiment is just so pretty! Now, I'm trying to think of what this card could be used for, and I'm thinking it could be given to someone who has achieved some type of milestone in their life or even someone who was very sick and got better. It'll take some creativity, but not all cards are made for just one purpose. Sometimes these quote type of cards are great because they can fit a variety of occasions.
Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting :)
