Lift the Flap Doctor Appreciation Card | Featuring MULTIPLE Stamp Sets

Almost 2 weeks ago, my 10.5mo daughter, Stella, had her cleft palette surgery. It went really well! We were only there for one night and half the next day after surgery. She was in and out in 2 hours, and there were NO complications -- I'm so grateful for that! I'm sure everyone keeping her in their thoughts and prayers helped with that :)

As a token of appreciation, I wanted to send the doctor and plastic surgery team that worked with her a thank you card. I began the concept for the card about a week ago, and I did a live on YouTube showing how I finished the card. I figured I'd do a simple blog post in case the LIVE was too long for ya, but you wanted to know how I created the card.

First, I began with a mini slim side fold card from Taylored Expressions. I used a mini slim rectangle die and mini slim scallop rectangle die to die cut TE Blueberry and Gumball cardstocks. I chose these two colors because they are in the logo of the hospital that we went to for Stella's surgery. Whenever I can, I like to personalize my cards for the recipient to make it extra special.

With the Gumball panel, I die cut a flap that the recipient would open to reveal the message underneath it. I then laid it on top of the Blueberry panel in my mini MISTI in order to line up where I wanted the sentiment on the Blueberry panel. I chose the sentiment "Thank you so much for taking such good care of me." from WPlus9's Get Well Gang stamp set. I removed the Gumball panel from the MISTI then I prepared the Blueberry panel for heat embossing by applying powder to it using TE's powder tool. I then inked up the stamp using Wow's clear embossing pad. I applied Ranger's white fine detail embossing powder onto the stamped sentiment then heat embossed it using a Wagner heat tool.

Next, I adhered my two blue panels to my card base using some tape runner adhesive. I stamped the sentiment "Doctor You Are Truly Appreciated" from Hero Art's Special Thank You stamp set on the top left of my card. Then I stamped "Open" with two arrows from Lawn Fawn's Push Here stamp set.

I used Neenah Solar White cardstock for my stamp images. With Lawn Fawn's Jet Black Ink and some masking tape, I created a bed for my card with Mama Elephant's Feel Better stamp set. I almost stamped a bunny from the set, and stamped a band-aid onto the bunny from the same set. I also stamped the medicine RX bottle from Wplus9's Get Well Gang stamp set which was the perfect size for my bunny image. I placed this stamp close to where the mouth/throat area would be to represent the cleft palette in the mouth. I die cut and colored in my images using various Copic markers.

I adhered the bed on the top right side of the card. Then I used foam tape to pop up the bottom to the right of the flap sentiment.

As a finishing touch, I added some gold sequin stars to represent Stella since her name means "star." I'm also probably going to add some liquid accents to the glasses of the bunny to give them a realistic shiny appearance.
