Mojo Monday 446 Contest | CTMH Smiles Begin with You

This week is contest week at Mojo Monday, so of course I HAD to make the time to participate in the Mojo Monday 446 Contest! I don't think I had a difficult time with the sketch per se, but it was more of coming up with a design theme for the card that would work with the sketch and being a potential Mother's Day card.

Mojo Monday 446

Looking through my stamps, I really don't have many Mother's/Father's day stamps, so this time I wanted to focus on my mom as a person in general by using somewhat of a "thinking of you" type of sentiment. Looking through my stamp inventory binder, I came across Close To My Heart's Smiles Begin with You stamp. It's an A-size stamp and features only one stamp, but I love the sentiment and the design created with it. I got it during my time as a CTMH consultant and really haven't used many CTMH products ever since I became a Stampin' Up! consultant. There's nothing wrong with CTMH, but of course, like most people, I get the urge to play with the newest and latest products rather than ones I've had for a while.

I've really got to get out of that habit because I have so many stamp sets I've bought, never had time to use, and they've just gotten lost in my collection gathering dust. Anyone else have that issue or is it just me? I have this idea in mind that one day I will go through my stamp inventory begin from start to finish and use each and every stamp in some way and make it a challenge to use stamps I've already used in multiple new ways to expand their use. However, that's hard to do when I keep getting new products and want to play with those! lol. When I don't have the budget for buying anything new, that's when I should make that time to pull an older product and use it in a new way; that would be a good idea :)

So for this sketch, once I pulled this stamp set (which really wouldn't fit into the sketch whatsoever, but I was determined to make it work -- therein lies the problem I had!), I pulled a couple of older Simon Says Stamp card kits, laid the ones I thought could work or a Mother's Day card, and literally had my dog Rocko pick which kit I would use! Haha, whichever one he went to first was the one I decided he "chose" ;) A little more fun than eeny-meeny-miny-moe. "We" decided to use the SSS May 2015 Card Kit :) It's such a pretty kit with all the gold foiled papers, although, I wished it had come with a sheet of cardstock in the Pale Blush Pink color featured in the kit.

So onto the card! After a few different attempts using different papers, below are the cards that I came up with :) It also features some CTMH Gold Sequins, Stampin' Up Gold Thread, and SU Blushing Bride paper (close enough). I present to you my Mother's Day cards for 2016 :)

As always, thanks for stopping by and Happy Crafting!
