Mojo Monday 489 | Chick Easter Card featuring A Good Egg from Sunny Studio

I have not been very consistent with my blog posts or YouTube videos lately. I might publish one post and then not post another until 3 weeks later or so. Life is just very busy right now, and I've been lacking the inspiration to get into the craft room and create. Don't get me wrong... that hasn't stopped me from buying new products - I just haven't shared or used them.

You ever just fall into a funk where all you want to do when you come home is lay, watch tv, and not really do much else? For me, it's easy since my husband and I don't have any kids so we only tend to ourselves when we get home. After work, I'm physically exhausted and don't really want to move my body much. I'm a veterinary assistant/tech, and my day consists of restraining a lot of pets so we can care for them. This can range from a 3 pound puppy and a 150 pound Bullmastiff. It can also consistent if kneeling, standing, or even being full out on the ground holding a pet down. It's very strenuous on my body. Even my days off, I don't want to get out of bed! I feel like I just need to reenergize for my next day of work. Anyway, I'm hoping once I don't have to keep trying to prove myself at work, it will get easier, and I'll be more looking forward to doing things that I like doing after work and on my days off.

Today is one of my days off, and I knew I wanted to get into my craft room and create something. I've pretty much gotten together anything Easter related so I can make Easter/spring cards. One of the stamp sets that I pulled is "A Good Egg" from Sunny Studio Stamps. I bought this a while ago when I was buying some stamps for Fall. I came across this stamp when I purchased "Harvest Happiness" which is another cute stamp from Sunny Studio (that I have yet to use!). Now was the time to break it open and use that set to create an Easter card.

I also wanted to break open my SSS March 2017 Some Bunny Card Kit because it had some fun patterned papers that I couldn't wait to use. I started by going to Mojo Monday to get an idea for a card sketch, so I used the Mojo Monday 489 sketch for the layout of my card. I decided I would put the chick and easter basket from the Sunny Studio stamp set where the flower was in the sketch.

I began with the pink paper from the kit as a matte for my card. I then cut one of the colorful patterned papers from the kit to 4"x5.25" and placed that in the center of my card. I cut down the green paper accordingly to make the strip across the card, and also die cut a stitched circle from that same pink paper as the matte. I used a banner die to die cut a stitched white banner for my sentiment, and cut the same banner (but smaller) from vellum. I decided to make the small strips into banners rather than just rectangles to add some more interest to the card, as well as more stitching detail.

I then stamped the chick and Easter basket onto some Neenah Solar White 110lb. cardstock using black Memento ink. I used my copic markers to color in the images. I'm still working on my coloring with them, but I think the time I spend learning to color with the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers helped me in learning to use the copic markers. I then die cut my images, put all the pieces together using tape runner adhesive and foam squares.

For the sentiment, I didn't want to just use the one included with the stamp set as I feel that's too expected. I did want it to say "Happy Easter" and couldn't find a good set that had it written the way I imagined. I have some coming in the mail that could have worked, but since I haven't received them yet, I decided to use the Lawn Fawn "Easter Border" die for my sentiment, and just separated the words so I could adhere them one above the other onto my card. I then finished off the eggs in the basket, the bow on the basket, and the sentiment with some clear Wink of Stella and adhered it to a top-folding card base.

Thanks for stopping by! Happy crafting :)
