Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue - Color Sparx Wedding Shower Card

So maybe this card isn't old or borrowed, but it's definitely BLUE and NEW! I received a custom order for a wedding shower card for a bride and groom with the color blue. I threw around a couple ideas before I came up with this card, but I knew I wanted to do some sort of mixed media background.

After playing with some ink smooshing and Color Sparx, I ultimately decided to use white watercolor paper, heat embossed with the "You Are Background" from Simon Says Stamp. Then I sprinkled various shades of blue Color Sparx onto the heat embossed panel and sprayed it with water. The embossed parts resisted the color so that the words would show through the blue.

After it dried, I used a scalloped rectangle die to die cut the panel. I placed it onto a 4x5.25 white background, then placed that panel onto a 4.25x5.5 black panel. Adhered the entire panel to a white top folding card base.

For the sentiment, I picked a stamp set from Close to my Heart, which I don't really use often anymore, but the sentiment was perfect for an engaged couple - it was appropriately called "Happily Ever After." I used my MISTI and Staz On black ink to stamp the sentiment onto some Pearlescent Vellum from Lawn Fawn, which reflected a greenish/bluish color that matched the mixed media background perfectly.

In order to adhere the sentiment panel onto the mixed media panel, I backed the vellum paper with Stick It adhesive which covered the whole sentiment panel and allowed me to adhere it without any adhesive showing through it.

Lastly, I finished off the card with some clear Swavorski crystals from my stash that I rarely use but felt it would give the final card an elegant look to it - perfect for a wedding shower!

The client loved this custom order - I hope the engaged couple did too!
