SSS June 2017 Card Kit | Using Past Kits to Make New Cards

2017? Yes, that was SO last year! Well, from around Summer last year to about now, I have been so wrapped up in other things in my life to even USE my Simon Says Stamp Card Kits that I received. I just kept putting them aside in a container labeled "NEW" and knew I would eventually get around to them.

Now that my husband and I have completed our move to NJ, have gotten settled with our new jobs and home, after about 7 months, I finally decided to use my days off to do things for me. No chores, no just sleeping around... but getting involved in my hobby of card making again.

I pulled out a few different card kits, which you can see in previous posts as well, and decided to just get right into it. The SSS June 2017 Card Kit was wedding-themed with a pink and black color-scheme. It included patterned papers, matching cardstock, a few inks and watercolor paints.

I started my card just by pulling out the patterned paper. I flipped through and found a design I liked. And really, the card design just came to me. I didn't refer to any sketch for this one and just let my instincts take over. I wanted to utilize the matching pink and black cardstock included in the kit to go with the patterned paper. I cut my black matte to 4.25"x5.5" to cover the front of my top-folding card base. I wanted a bigger matte, so I cut the pink paper and patterned paper smaller than usual to get that big matte background.

I wanted to add some sparkle, so I pulled my CTMH black shimmer trim and applied it to the left side of the card. I felt like I needed more, so I also pulled some matching pink twine and wrapped a bow around and on top of the shimmer trim. For my sentiment, I decided to keep it simple with a small one from the stamp set. I stamped "For the happy couple" onto some black cardstock and white heat embossed it, then cut it into a banner. To make it pop a little more, I decided to cut a banner from pink cardstock to put behind the black banner.

For the inside of my card, which I have been designing in my most recent cards, I cut some leftover pink cardstock, stamped the sentiment "Congratulations" in black ink and added some more of the shimmer trim to make a finished look. That finished off my card :)

After successfully creating this card, I decided to try another. It didn't come out exactly as I had imagined and the bow on the front ended up not so much in the center. It's not horrible though so I'll share it below :)

Thanks for stopping by! Happy crafting :)
