SSS January 2018 Favorite Person Card Kit | Love You Shaker Card

Wow, it's been a while since I've created a card from scratch with no restrictions; just whatever I come up with. Needless to say, I haven't had much of a crafting mojo lately. For the past month, either me or my husband were sick. There was a lot of stress at our jobs. Plus, it's winter and cold, and all I want to do is curl up in a blanket.

I've had numerous kits make their way to my home from SSS, Kim's Card Kits, Queen and Co. Shaker Kits... but I have yet to make the time to use them. Along with that, there are many stamp sets I have yet to break in as well. My basket of "Current Projects" is now just a box with new supplies I haven't even used.

The other day, I finally had my 3-month review at my job. I was nervous about it for the longest time because I didn't know what would come of it. The past month I've just gone to work, done what I know, and realized if I meet their needs they will keep me there. If not, then so be it. I'm happy to say that the review went well! I have a few things to work on, and I decided that getting back into my Penn Foster Vet Tech program might just do the trick.

Yesterday, I finally got started with my second course, completed a unit and exam, and finally feel like I'm in the groove to get started with my schooling again. Today I prepped for my next unit, printing out quizzes, study guides, etc. I felt good about myself for being responsible! I felt like I deserved to do something I wanted to do... craft :)

I decided to pull out some of my Valentine's Day kits including last month's SSS January 2018 Card Kit that I had yet to touch. I still had some supplies leftover from my Queen & Co. Heart Throb Shaker Kit and wanted to do a shaker card. I searched through my book of card sketches and came across one I thought would work well for making a shaker card. I also wanted to use the stamp set from the SSS kit, so I decided to use its paper contents as well and mix that with the heart shaker piece from Q&C.

I used the cardstock and patterned paper from the SSS kit and cut it down accordingly to match the sketch. First I picked the patterned paper, then the cardstock colors to match. I then pulled my Q&C Heartthrob dies and cut the heart shaker die from leftover cardstock. I stamped the sentiment "Love you" from the SSS Really Like You stamp set included in the kit. I chose a few shaker components from my stash and completed the shaker portion of my card. I added a few more sequins around the card, then finished off the front with some Lawn Fawn Sweetheart Lawn Trimmings.

I completed the inside of the card by creating the sentiment "Happy Valentine's Day" with the block words included in the stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by! Happy crafting :)
