Mojo Monday 478 Contest | Encouragement Card featuring Simon Says Stamp

Now that I've gotten back to making time for card making, I can't stop! It feels good to get these ideas, that have been packed in my head, out onto paper. I still have at least one more card after this one to share :)

For this card, I decided (again) to go back to the Mojo Monday 478 Contest. I used this card sketch and used the supplies from SSS Snow Much Thanks Card Kit - this time, using patterned papers AND solids to create a card - not just mix and matching paper with other paper I have.

I wanted to use the sentiment from the stamp set in the kit: "When it snows, you have two choices: SHOVEL OR MAKE SNOW ANGELS. I choose angels." I love this sentiment! It's great for an encouragement card during the winter-time. By using the MM sketch, I was able to come up with the perfect placement for the sentiments. I did change a few things from the sketch when I made my card; I placed a rectangle in the center of the card rather towards the right side of the card, and I eliminated the circle.

To begin my card, I cut some Raspberry cardstock from CTMH to 5.5x4.25. I then cut the piece of patterned paper I wanted to use to 5x3.75. Then I cut down some Stampin' Up! Very Vanilla cardstock to create a tiny border around the patterned paper. I used blue gray parchment paper from the SSS Kit to create the vertical panel on the left-side of the card. TIP: In order to attached the parchment paper to the card without adhesive showing through, I used my Xyron sticker maker and made the whole panel a sticker - making the adhesive invisable. Do you have tips for how you adhere down parchment/vellum paper without the adhesive showing? Lastly, I cut some Stampin' Up! Very Vanilla paper again to create the rectangle for the center of the card.

I then lined up my stamps onto the center rectangle and stamped them with CTMH Raspberry ink. I wanted to stick with the sketch and create a vertical panel towards the bottom of the card, but I wanted to do something other then cardstock. I decided to pull my CTMH blue shimmer trim (now retired) and cut 3 pieces and stacked them one beside the other to create a wider panel of glitter tape. Ideally, I would have had that color blue in glitter paper so the look would be more seamless, but sometimes you just have to work with what you have and improvise.

I finished off the card with some Clear Wink of Stella, blue-gray snowflake sequins from the SSS card kit, and PPP Clear Sparkling Sequins

Thanks for stopping by! Happy Crafting :)
