Simon Says: New Something | Interactive Valentine's Day Card featuring Lawn Fawn

This week for Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge, the theme is new something. I decided to use some new products I've recently bought and haven't had a chance to use to create my first Valentine's Day care for the year.

I wanted to use Lawn Fawn's Stitched Heart Envelope to create a little envelope with a note to attach to the front of my card. Because the patterned paper was predominantly pink, I decided to create the envelope using red cardstock and the note from pink cardstock. I decided I wanted my envelope to stay closed, so I used some 1/8" Scor-tape to adhere the sides down. In my opinion, this tape is strong than my usual tape runner or liquid adhesives.

For the rest of my card, I used Lawn Fawn's Love Letters stamp and die set. I stamped out the little chick and colored him using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, then die cut him. I also stamped the sentiment "a little message to say" in the upper right-hand corner of my card.

I attached the envelope I created to my card at a slant using Tombow XTREME Permanent Adhesive as It would be strong enough to keep the envelope onto the card. I adhered the chick to the card as if he was holding the envelope using some foam adhesive to give him some dimension to match the envelope.

For the note insert, I used the note from the stitched heart envelope die. I pulled a few stamp sets to create my sentiment that would spread across the note evenly without leaving too much space. I pulled SSS's Hello Beautiful stamp set, and used the sentiment "you are a sweetheart" for the top of the note. Then I pulled Mama Elephant's I Like You stamp set and used the sentiment "you make me happy, happy valentine's day you sexy thang!" I didn't need all of that, I just needed the happy valentine's day part of the sentiment because it would match well with my card without having too many different fonts being used. I placed both stamps onto my Mini Misti, then masked off what I didn't need from the sentiment using 3M Scotch White Masking Tape, inked up my sentiment, removed the masking tape, and stamped my sentiment onto the note.

I die cut the heart from the stitched heart envelope die to use as a closure for the envelope and attached it to the envelope. All that was left to do was to add a Mini Glue Dot to the top of the envelope so it would close, but I used my finger to take off some of the tackiness on one side of the glue dot so that the envelope would stay closed until opened and would open without ripping. I finished off the card with some Clear Wink of Stella, then it was done :)

Now that everything is said and done, I still feel like the card needs something. Maybe sequins? What do you think? I'm open to ideas!

Thanks for stopping by! Happy crafting :)
