I apologize up front that it's been a while since I've posted on my blog or YouTube channel, but with starting a new job a few weeks ago, I've been exhausted coming home from work! I finally got a chance to sit down and create a card (one of my early days off work) using the August 2016 SSS Seeing Stars Card Kit. Unfortunately, it seems that a lot of people would agree that these kit released 2 months too late. If we could have had it for June, we would have been able to make 4th of July cards, which really seems to be the theme with this kit having red, white, and blue, as well as stars, stripes, and fireworks. It's a great kit and has some great contents (love that it came with TWO distress inks on my wish list that I didn't have), but I might save the contents for next year. I do like the stamp set though, which does not have to be paired with this kit as it isn't 4th of July themed at all. With me loving stars and all, this was obviously my favorite feature of the kit, so I HAD to use it! :)
I decided to pull the sketch from Mojo Monday 458 to come up with the design of this card. I did decide to go ahead and use a 4th of July theme, despite the fact that the sentiment I chose was more of an encouragement theme. I decided to use the distress inks from the kit, and the star resist background to create the patterned part for my background. This definitely appealed to me since I've been playing with distress inks and blending a lot lately, as well as the ink resist technique. I didn't do so much blending for this card as I didn't want to make purple from the red and blue blending together, so I tried to avoid that. I then used the solid papers from the kit to put the rest of the card together.
Thanks for stopping by! Happy Crafting :)
