MFT Sketch Challenge 283 | SSS June 2016 Card Kit Thanks Card

Monday, June 6, 2016

I definitely planned to get a lot more card making done this past week, but that didn't really happen. I didn't even make the next 2 cards until Sunday night! Anyway, I was inspired by MFT's Sketch Challenge #283, so I pulled out my Simon Says Stamp June 2016 card kit again to use the supplies to make a card.

I've used this kit a few times now, and it really is a fun kit with all the mixed media elements incorporated into the patterned papers. The colors are also very summery and fun! I used this kit to create a variety of cards.

For the MFT sketch, I thought it lent itself well to being a shaker card, so that's exactly what I made :) I had much better luck this time around with making my shaker card... not really sure what made it so different. I did use some strong adhesive, but even before using it, the card seemed to stay together pretty well. I just used the strong adhesive for backup.

Originally when I created the shaker part of the card, I added a pastel rainbow of PPP sequins, but the colors really didn't pop like I wanted them to, so I opened the shaker back up (I know, omg) and took out the sequins and replaced them with 4mm & 6mm sparkling clear PPP sequins and let the colors from the papers be the star of the card rather than the sequins. As a finishing touch, I used the Scripty Thanks die from Lawn Fawn to create the sentiment. I cut it out in both blue and black so I could give it a bit of dimension as if there were a shadow.

Before making this card, I was actually playing around with the printed images included in the SSS kit and used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to create a pretty blended sunset :) The colors didn't blend so well as it wasn't watercolor paper, but with some work, it did blend enough for me to be satisfied with the look :)

That's it for now. I hope to get some more card making done this week and complete some more card challenges!

Thanks for stopping by! Happy crafting :)
